Is MacArthur closer to the Hamptons than JFK?

For most of the South Fork, yes. Flying into Ronkonkoma, about 50 miles east of Manhattan, cuts a long stretch of the Long Island Expressway out of the trip.

How long is the drive from ISP to Manhattan?

It is about 50 miles. Off-peak it is a reasonable run on the LIE; at rush hour it can be slow, and we plan the pickup around that.

Can you meet me at the Ronkonkoma LIRR station instead?

Yes. The station is just north of the airport, and we pick up there as well as at the terminal.

MacArthur Airport to the Hamptons

From ISP the drive to Southampton, Bridgehampton, or East Hampton skips the western half of Long Island, which is where most of the traffic is. On a summer Friday that matters. Families coming out for a few weeks tend to bring a lot, and a Sprinter holds up to 14 people with their bags, so nobody needs a second car for the luggage.

At the terminal or the station

MacArthur has a single terminal, and your chauffeur meets you at baggage claim with a name sign. The car is loaded at the covered Ground Transportation Center next door, which opened in 2023. If you are coming out from the city by train instead, we can meet you at the Ronkonkoma LIRR station just north of the airport.

WEST TO THE CITY

ISP to Manhattan and Long Island

MacArthur is about 50 miles east of Manhattan. Some travelers land there when fares or schedules beat JFK and LaGuardia, and we drive them into the city along the Long Island Expressway. We also go to towns across Nassau and Suffolk and out to the North Fork, and for departures we work back from your flight with room for the expressway.
